The publication, Artists in Figures – Statistics on Artists in Denmark, is now available to anyone interested in data on artists’ living- and workingconditions in Denmark.
It is an English translation of the publication Kunstnere i tal – om statistikken Kunstnere i Danmark, graciously made possible by our partners at the Danish Cultural Institute.
The publication, which was first published in Danish in March 2024 by the Danish Artists Council, gives insight into:
- Key figures and trends from the new statistic Artists in Denmark, produced by Statistics Denmark
- Artists’ lives behind the numbers
- The background for the data collaboration between Statistics Denmark, the Danish Artists’ Council and the Artists’ Council’s member organizations in the development project Artists in Figures (KiT).
“Many artists work internationally across borders and there is much to be gained by sharing knowledge across countries. We are grateful that the Danish Cultural Institute has wanted to contribute to translating this publication,” says Anne-Mette Wehmüller, head of secretariat at the Danish Artists Council.
“The Danish Artists Council has worked persistently on establishing artist statistics in Denmark – and we are therefore very happy to spread knowledge about Danish artists’ conditions internationally through international network and publications,” she says.
Data-collaboration continues
The data collaboration between the Danish Artists Council, Statistics Denmark and the member organizations under the Danish Artists Council will be continued and expands in the coming years.
The Danish Artists Council hopes the publication will be of benefit and inspiration to our partners, politicians, decision-makers and fellow-artists at home and abroad.
